Summary Description:

The marine geophysicist will have a solid knowledge base of coastal management services

Responsibilities:

Tasks will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Research, compile, and interpret published literature, publicly-available GIS datasets, and project-specific data to inform Critical Issues Analyses and Risk Analyses documentation efforts
  • Technical writing for reports, drafting, or designing supporting figures and illustrations required
  • Integrate and manage extensive GIS datasets, geophysical survey data, and project- specific documentation
  • Research and interpret international, Federal, state and local regulations on a project-specific basis to assess project permitting feasibility and requirements, as well as prepare environmental reports and permit applications
  • Perform other duties as requested

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Marine Science, Engineering, Biology, Oceanography, GIS, Remote Sensing, or related field, and a minimum of 4 years of directly related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently within general guidelines and direction
  • Demonstrated history of self-motivation and use of problem solving skills

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of and experience with coastal management services
  • Experience working with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
