Summary Description:

The marine environmental scientist will have a solid knowledge base of coastal and marine policy and planning, and biological, physical, and earth scientific analysis.

Responsibilities:

Tasks will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Manage and assist with projects that are primarily in coastal, marine, and other waterfront environments
  • Complete environmental impact assessments, regulatory feasibility assessments, and other technical analyses
  • Perform environmental studies and prepare/review technical documentation
  • Perform other duties as requested

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Marine Science, Biology, Oceanography, GIS, Remote Sensing, or related field, and a minimum of 8 years of directly related experience
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently within general guidelines and direction
  • Demonstrate history of self-motivation and use of problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Applies knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of and experience with environmental science
  • Experience working with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
